Pronger will miss 2-3 weeks with eye injury

October 26, 2011

Flyers defenseman and captain Chris Pronger took the blade of Mikhail Grabovski's stick right to the face in Monday night's 4-2 win over Toronto.

Pronger left the game with an eye injury, and after the game Paul Holmgren stated that he will be on bed rest for the next 3-4 days and could possibly be back in 10 days, but that is the best case scenario.

The 18 year veteran got a cut that caused blurred vision. He has been seeing an eye specialist everyday while on bed rest and has been making good progress.

Pronger, who never wore a visor before, will wear one when he returns to the ice. The eye specialist Stephen Goldman will not give him medical clearance to play if he refuses.

Pronger's injury scared everyone, but he appears to be making good progress. Hopefully he will be skating again soon.

However, eye injuries are serious business. The better option would be to bring Pronger back when he is absolutely ready.
