Schenn will debut tonight against Capitals

October 19, 2011

Brayden Schenn is set to make his official NHL debut, as the Flyers get set to play the Washington Capitals tonight at the Wells Fargo Center.

Schenn will be playing in his first NHL regular season game, a day after being called up from the Flyer's AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms.

Though it is still very early in the season, tonight is a big game for the Flyers.

The Washington Capitals are 5-0-0, and hold the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers will be looking to hand the Caps their first loss of the year, while possibly taking the Eastern Conference lead.

In order to take first place from Washington, the Flyers will need to win in regulation.

Ilya Bryzgalov will be back in goal, after Sergei Bobrovsky started in Tuesday night's 7-2 win at Ottawa. Bryzgalov will be opposed by Washington's Tomas Vokoun, so we should have a good goalie battle on our hands tonight.

The Capitals are a talented team with players like Alexander Semin, Nickolas Backstrom, and of course captain Alexander Ovechkin.

However, the Flyers have a pretty good team as well, sustaining a good balance of veterans like Pronger, Briere, and Jagr with young players like Read, Couturier, and now Schenn.
