This morning, GM Paul Holmgren delivered great news just hours before the Flyers take on the Penguins in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals.

Holmgren announced that both forward Danny Briere and defenseman Nicklas Grossmann are ready and will be in the lineup for game one.

Both Briere and Grossmann missed the last few games of the regular season due to injuries suffered in a 6-4 win against Pittsburgh, two weeks ago. Briere had an upper-back contusion and Grossmann had a knee injury.

Having both of them back in the lineup for the playoffs is a big boost for the Flyers.

Briere has found succcess consistently in the playoff, scoring 29 goals and 30 assists in 57 games in the four seasons he has been with the Flyers. According to the Flyer's website, Briere's eight game winning playoff goals is tied for second all-time in the franchise.

Nicklas Grossmann has made the Flyer's defense play a lot more physically since he came over in the trade from the Dallas Stars, and his presence is sure to have an effect on the defense's agressiveness.

Having Grossmann and Briere back at the same time gives the Flyers a boost all around, and this news comes right before puck drop in game one.
