NHL's First Star of the Week, Wayne Simmonds

Wayne Simmonds was named the NHL's first star of the week this morning.

The 23-year old forward scored five goals in the last four games to be named the first star for the first time in his career.

Ilya Bryzgalov was also named the league's first star of March.

Bryz set a new franchise record for consecutive shutout minutes (249:43) from March 8-13. During that span, Bryz recorded a total of four shutouts in five games.

Bryz finished with a 10-2-1 record and a 1.43 goals-against average by the end of the month.
