Snider hints at retiring Howe's number

Okay maybe not so much as a hint, but a statement.
Flyer's chairman Ed Snider, spoke at Howe's induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday night, saying that, "I don’t want to say one thing one way or another, but I feel that anybody who was in the Hall of Fame that was a Philadelphia Flyer, their number should be retired."

Sounds like the retirement of Howe's 2 is a matter of when, not if.

The newly titled Hall of Fame Defenseman spent the prime of his career with the Flyers. He played for 10 seasons in Philadelphia.

General Managers meet to discuss the trap

Not a very big deal, the general mangers of every NHL team met on Tuesday to discuss what happened in the Flyers, Lightning game, where the Flyers simply stood and did nothing as a counter to Tampa Bay's trap defense.

Flyer's GM Paul Holmgren feels that the trap is not something to spend a lot of time debating on, "Obviously, it’s worthy of some kind of debate but I don’t think we need to spend a lot of time on it."

A bigger issue? The GM's also discussed the league's realignment, which became an issue when the Atlanta Thrashers were sold to Winnipeg, and became the new Jets, before the season began.
