Wellwood recalled to the Flyers

The Flyers recalled forward Eric Wellwood from the Adirondack Phantoms on Friday.


Wellwood will be available to play in Saturday night's home game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

According to CSNPhilly.com, Wellwood being recalled hints that James Van Riemsdyk will not play Saturday night. Van Riemsdyk was scratched from Thrusday night's game against the New Jersey Devils due to a lower-body injury that currently has him listed as day-to-day.

Wellwood was the Flyer's sixth round draft pick in 2009, he currently has four goals and four assists for the Phantoms this season.

Wellwood played in a few games for the Flyers last season. Though he did not score any goals, he was able to attract the attention of fans and the local media for his great performance.
