Read, Flyers can't finish comeback, Jets win 6-4

November 19, 2011

17 total goals were scored the last time the Flyers played the Winnipeg Jets. A game that ended with a hard fought 9-8 win for Winnipeg.

That was at the Wells Fargo Center. On Saturday afternoon, the Flyers played a game in Winnipeg for the first time in 15 years.

Bryan Little scored twice in the first period for his third (4:45) and fourth (7:00) goals of the year, giving the Jets an early 2-0 lead.

Andrew Ladd (6) scored on the power play (10:15) to give the Jets a 3-0 lead in the first.

Scott Hartnell redirected a shot by Chris Pronger from the point for his seventh of the season (13:27) to put the Flyers on the board. Philadelphia went into the first intermission down 3-1.

Jim Slater (6) scored shorthanded (5:49) in the second to continue the Jets scoring. Then Dustin Byfuglien (4) scored on the power play (10:20) to increase Winnipeg's lead to four.

Scott Hartnell recorded his second goal of the night (8) with a power play goal (16:09) to make it 5-2 before the end of the second.

In the third period, Matt Read (8) tried to lead the Flyers to a comeback, scoring two goals (8:32 and 17:46) to cut the Flyer's deficit down to just one.

However, Nik Antropov (4) scored an empty net goal (18:46) to put the game out of reach, and give the Jets a 6-4 win.

Sergei Bobrovsky got the start for the Flyers, and he had an off-day, only making 34 saves in 39 shots from the Jets.

Ondrej Pavelec was not much better, but was able to get the job done. Pavelec saw 31 shots, and made 27 saves for the Jets.

The Flyers are 0-2 against the new Jets. They will not get another shot at them until the end of January at the Wells Fargo Center.

For now, the Flyers can look forward to trying to bounce back in their next game against the Hurricanes on Monday night, at the Wells Fargo Center.
